Antique Romanian blouse from Transylvania, Sibiu shepherd blouse size L - XL
A genuine hallmark of the shepherds in Carpathian Mountains, in between Sibiu and Valcea counties, the costume of this area has a well defined personality through the black and white contrast which the basic pieces display. The beauty and the elegance of the apparel aroused the admiration of the intelligentsia, who adopted this costume as as a national emblem at the beginning of the 20th century.
Beautiful peasant shepherds blouse from Valcea - Sibiu area decorated with black hand embroideries and black cloth stripes. The measurements of the blouse are:
length: 55 cm or 21. 65 inches.
around chest: 120 cm or 47. 24 inches
From under armpit to shoulder, the armhole is large enough for any size: M - L - XL.
Size L or L - XL size
Good condition, clean and nice. The blouse is an antique one, dated most probably in between 1920 - 1940. Because of that the black embroideries are slightly discolored. One of the hand embroidered rows with flowers is blue now because the embroiderer used two types of thread for her work and the thread discolored differently.
The neck is replaced, the older one was too used and darned.
