Antique cocoon silk / raw silk decorative textile from Romania - Stergar borangic - 2
Vintage, hand - made 40 - 60 years ago or more, Romanian traditional textile. Hand woven and hand embroidered with cocoon silk thread, raw silk thread known in Romania as borangic. Beautiful multicolored embroidery on a thick raw silk. It is homespun raw / cocoon silk textile hand made in households in past times. It was a sign of prosperity to display those raw silk textile at wedding, ceremonies or in the main room of the house.

The scarf / textile is in good condition with the traces of the wear inherent for an item of this age. No tear or stain !
The colour is ivory, pale beige, cream raw silk combined with red and green cotton thread.
A contemporary use for this rare and beautiful kind of textile is: covering a piano or a long table as a center of the table, a small curtain. The young ladies from Romania use this large textile as dress for beach.
