Superb antique Romanian peasant blouse and skirt , part of the Romanian costume originated from Muscel area . Hand woven and hand embroidered more than 60 years ago . The Muscel folkwear is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country . The prestige of this costume is due to its spectacular aspect generated by the ampleness of the decorations which covers almost the entire surface of the blouse and of the golden threads , beads or sequines .
It is the exceptional craftmanship of the Muscel folkwear that enticed Queen Maria to adopt it as the high ceremonial national attire .
This fabulous garment is hand embroidered with red cotton thread on white linen and is decorated with yellow very small beads .

Age : 60-70 years old .

Blouse's length : 54 cm or 21. 25 inches
Around chest : 130 cm or 51. 18 inches

Skirt's length : 72 cm or 28. 34 inches
Around hips : 130 cm or 51. 18 inches .

Condition : good vintage condition . Some beads are missing here and there . Minor traces of the wear for the blouse with no tears or noticeable stains .
The skirt is also in good condition , with only one stain that I captured in my photos .

Due to the huge amount of embroidery and beads , the blouse and skirt's weight exceeds 1 kilo or 2. 2 pounds .
